paul says: Flew up from dallas to see low perform in their hometown. We stopped by the Sacred Heart studio, met Eric, and got to see where some of the magic happened. The show was phenomenal. Of course, being the Floyd fan, I was disappointed that Mother was not a cover, but that disappointment quickly faded as Mother is a beautiful song. Alan was in rare form; us low fans have been put on notice that “free bird” is not funny shit, not to the band at least. And, Mimi gave her obligatory two or three wth looks at Alan during some of his more artistic moments. “Holy Ghost” was my favorite new song, very mellow, very Mimi. And, they put a different twist on dragonfly that was amazing. The last few concerts I’ve attended, the audience has been begging for dragonfly and they were not disappointed on this night. Low, we’ve got a great music scene in Dallas; it would be a lot better though, if you were part of it from time to time. C’mon down, and bring Amazing Grace with you.
steven says: The new Low is great! I have always admired the fact that Low seeks different engineers for each new record. Kramer[2], Steve Fisk[1], Tom Herbers[2], Steve Albini[2], Eric Swanson[1], Tchad Blake[1], David Friedman[2], Matt Beckley[1], Jeff Tweedy[1], and Low themselves. Who’s next Steven Wilson, Billy Anderson, Rick Rubin, or maybe Phil Specter?
The album art reminds me a bit of Ralph Steadman’s work, although a bit more abstract. Unsettling, but still cool.
