Christmas tour with special guest Charlie Parr

Low is pleased to announce a West Coast tour in support of the vinyl reissue of Christmas (Kranky). In addition to playing songs from Christmas, Low will be performing material from their entire catalogue. Fellow Duluthian Charlie Parr will open all shows and accompany Low during their set. The band is currently putting finishing touches on material for a forthcoming 2011 release on Sub Pop Records. The Christmas shows will be giving audiences a sneak preview of several new tracks along the way. Tickets are onsale now, links available on our tourdate page.

Please come to Ireland some Christmas to play these wonderful songs. Christmas was the first Low album I bought and I still love it, and play it all year round!

Embarking on a “Christmas Tour” with a West Coast swing in December is a prudent decision.

As a fan, my wish is for a unique tour that invokes the harmony of the season … and serves as a gift which the audience and the band will always cherish.

Heading east across the heartland, where airports close, batteries go to die and “white out” is not an office supply, might turn the aforementioned glad tidings inside out.

But as a fan, I know we can get you in and out of O’Hare with ample time to shop the European Christmas Market downtown to finish off your gift list in one swoop … warm you head to toe with hot cider (whiskey optional)w/cinnamon stick and comfort food of choice … so as to play a show that crests and falls on the eardrum, while connecting with the ethereal force within, where we store and hold close our secret life.

That is a gift I have received from Low on many nights in many theaters … for which I say “thank you”, and send all good wishes of the season in return.

Here’s hoping the shows in Europe and the left coast bring you satisfaction and joy – you deserve it. As you gear up to tour in 2011 behind the new CD, consider the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee … a beautiful venue with acoustics tailor-made for the band.

I saw Low play back in Australia quite a few years ago … I’ve just moved to Salt Lake City for work so very excited to find one of my favourite bands playing here! I’ve already got the Christmas EP on CD but hopefully there’s some vinyl available at the show …
